Yoga, Pilates and Mindful Movement in Italy

This week-long retreat with Simone Nitzan, Carla Interior and Deborah Colman offers you the opportunity to dive more deeply into what it means to be human in this crazy world. Each of us manages a unique set of circumstances and a lens through which we see ourselves and the world. In this retreat, you’ll have the opportunity to move beyond your lens to open up physically, mentally and emotionally in ways you may never have experienced before. You’ll be challenged physically through dynamic pilates, mindful movement and yoga classes, and you’ll have time to get quiet enough to truly listen to your heart’s calling.

Simone and Carla’s knowledge of yoga and their ability to create a serene and supportive atmosphere allowed me to deepen my practice and connect with my body and mind on a profound level. Their attention to detail and individualized approach ensured that each participant received the necessary guidance and adjustments for their personal growth.

— Amanda (participant in 2023 retreat)

The connection between the body and mind has been well documented and researched. We know the two are intimately connected, and we know that moving our bodies helps us access different aspects of our minds. When our bodies are strong, healthy and move well, our minds find greater ease, and when we work on the mind, it impacts how we feel in our bodies.

This retreat will bring together a variety of practices from yoga asana, pilates, yin yoga, restorative yoga, chanting, meditation and breathing to cultivate a sense of ease physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Deborah Colman Workshop Descriptions

Healthy Inner Dialogue
Do you ever wonder who is doing all the chattering in your mind and how this litany of voices is for better or worse, directing your life? When we can recognize and distinguish between our life-affirming versus our life-diminishing voices and develop the habit of deeply listening to our wisest self, we are able to more effectively respond to the challenges and circumstances in our lives and create an exciting vision for living our best lives.

Emotional Fluency
So often, we shove our emotions aside or stuff them deep inside because we have not been encouraged to experience them and/or learned how to effectively communicate them. Yet, our emotions are a window into our truth and having access to a full range of our emotions is an essential part of living a deeply satisfying life. When we develop emotional fluency, we establish healthy boundaries, navigate our emotional world with ease, and bring greater energy and aliveness to the whole of our lives.

Embracing Your Value
Many of us have been taught to believe that we are not valuable and that we must prove our value through our achievements and performance. Consider how this ongoing need to prove our value becomes the dominate underlying motivation that fuels our actions and informs our relationships. Alternatively, we will explore what becomes available when we drop the persistent need to provide evidence of our value and instead, embrace and savour the experience of our inherent worth without apology.

Carla Interior

Born in Manila, raised in Toronto Carla completed her first yoga teacher training in Thailand, and shortly after found her voice to teach yoga with confidence. Carla’s classes will encourage you to get intimate with your body and mind. Her time spent adjusting students in their self-practice gives her a different approach to her led classes, providing modifications to help achieve their personal goals. Eager to learn more, she took her first Pilates Teacher Training with Leslie Parker at Mindful Movement Centre. Leslie focused on therapeutic methods of rehabilitating injuries which inspired Carla to teach in a more meaningful way. She strives to empower her students to strengthen and care for their bodies, helping them develop a pilates practice to support their unique bodies and physically demanding lifestyles. You can look forward to increased joint mobility as well as an overall sense of calm and balance in her Pilates & Yoga classes.

Simone Nitzan

The experience of consciously and fluidly linking the breath and movement inspires Simone in her practice and teaching. Her personal practise informs her teaching, and she draws on elements of vinyasa, science-based alignment and mindful movement in her led classes. She believes practicing yoga leads to a meditative state and expands our awareness of ourselves. Her classes bridge awareness of the breath with the alignment of the body and mind. When we’re in a state of yoga, the qualities of effort and ease are harmoniously balanced.

Simone is a mother, anatomy and yoga teacher, massage therapist and yoga student for life. She has been teaching since 2009 in various workshops and retreats in North America, Europe and Asia. She is currently based in Toronto and co-founder of the online yoga studio Marigoldyoga.ca.
